There are many people who have lost valuable prized possessions that were stored in a self storage facility. When a client is unable to pay the monthly rent on their self storage unit, the self storage facility will generally take the items from the particular unit and put them up for auction. Sometimes these items are put up in lots and other times they are auctioned off piece by piece. These self storage auctions provide an amazing opportunity for profit to savvy entrepreneurs who know how to profit from such self storage auctions.

When a self storage unit renter fails to pay his rent for two or three months, he is considered in default. A renter who is in default is usually given legal notice that their property will be sold at some form of auction if they cannot catch up on his payments. Once this legal notice is given, the self storage facility becomes the owner of the renter’s belongings. The economy is in bad shape at this time and many people all over the country simply cannot afford their rent. This is due to the belt-tightening that must happen during any financial crisis. Rising food costs, utility costs, and gas prices are also expenses that are contributing to the higher levels of default and subsequent self storage auctions.

Once the content of a self storage unit is sold at auction, the highest bidder can do as they wish with the belongings that they’ve purchased. Most entrepreneurs will take these belongings that they have acquired at steep discounts and they will sell them at flea markets and online auctions such as eBay. Many of these same entrepreneurs will also resell these belongings for a nice profit to consignment shops and at rummage sales. There is obviously a high return on investment if you can get a good deal by purchasing belongings from a self storage auction in your area.

Expensive items are often the types of belongings that are placed in self storage units. Items such as antiques, furniture, and electronics can be found in self storage units and in subsequent self storage auctions when the owners to fall behind on their monthly rent. Oftentimes, these expensive items can be purchased for very little cost. Old jewelry, books, and furniture can usually be had for just pennies on the dollar and this provides a massive opportunity to profit from self storage auctions.

Self storage auctions are generally over quickly as they are open to the general public and advertised ahead of time. When the auction begins, the lock is cut off of the door. Bidders may arrive a bit early so they can view the items from the door. Then they place bids on what they can see but some items in a self storage unit may not be viewable so there is a bit of guessing involved. Most self storage auctions are over within 30 minutes and some people can walk away with a small fortune while spending just a few dollars, relatively speaking.

The best part of a self storage auction is the thrill of the hunt, so to speak. Just as people are excited when they find a treasure on an auction site such as eBay, savvy people can find themselves overly excited when they find the same type of treasure at a self storage auction. There is no telling what you’ll find at a self storage auction but you can be pretty sure that you’ll find some fantastic deals anytime you attend one of these self storage auctions.

Some of the items you find at self storage auctions will surprise you. Business equipment, automotive repair equipment and tools, and many other business-to-business items can be found at self storage auctions. If you plan to try and earn money from self storage auctions you need to be consistent and you need to attend as many auctions as you can to have a good chance of scoring highly profitable treasures. You need to have a solid plan and know how to market the items you are bidding on. My personal suggestion is eBay. People are always looking for rare and unique items on eBay so if you find a hidden treasure in one of your self storage auctions, you can probably turn a nice profit by listing it on an auction site such as eBay.

The best way to determine when these self storage auctions are held is to check your local paper or to call the local self storage providers in your area and simply ask them. They will be more than happy to assist you as their primary goal is to collect enough money to cover the rent that has been unpaid by those in default. I hope you like this article on self storage auctions and that you follow the advice given. Happy hunting!

The existence of vampires is still up for debate. They most certainly could exist so you’ve got to make sure that you are protected from attack at all times. If you feel that there maybe vampire in your area, then you’ve got to act fast because they may be coming for you or your children! These nocturnal predators are brutal, relentless killers, so you’ll have to be clever if you want to keep them away from your home. Follow my tips and suggestions and you can sleep soundly knowing that vampires will never set foot in your home.

The first and most important piece of advice is to never, ever invite a vampire into your home. Once you make the mistake of inviting one in, you will never be able to protect yourself from them again. The best way to avoid accidentally inviting one in is to be very selective with your houseguests. If someone looks a little paler than you think is normal or they only want to come over at night, you should be hesitant. Also, if you have young children, make sure you approve anyone they invite over. Even young children can be vampires, so you should be weary and always on the lookout. If you want to keep vampires from even attempting gain entrance into your home, then you may want to hang some cloves of garlic near all of your entrances and windows. This will also be a great to way to identify potential vampires. You should always be suspicious of people who express an aversion to garlic. Scatter a random object throughout your front yard. It can be anything from sunflower seeds to automotive parts. Vampires are known for their obsessive-compulsive tendencies, so if you have enough objects scattered throughout your property, the vamp will be obligated to count every single one. They will be so immersed in counting that they will either forget about you and your home or they will have to head back to their coffin before the sun rises. Hang crucifixes around your home. The best places are at the entrances of every bedroom and bathroom. Also make sure that you and all of your loved ones are wearing a crucifix at all times, just in case.

You may have some trepidation about going to a new car showroom and attempting to get a loan so you can buy a new car because you have bad credit history. You are not alone in this fear. There are many consumers who are finding they are being rejected for loans not just for cars, but for many other necessities as well. It is an embarrassing situation for most people, but you can be prepared before you visit your local car showroom for what you can expect from the dealer if you visit an online website that can give you advice about this type of automotive savings.

There are many car loan lenders who will only approve your request for a loan if you have an auto loan history on your credit report already. This can be quite discouraging for the first time buyer. Many times you will be taken advantage of when it comes to the interest rates for your new car purchase if you have a less than a sterling credit score. The salesman may even make you feel inferior and this adds to the feelings of discomfort for the entire situation.

When you do your research online, you can find ways to avoid this. The internet has not only become a tool for where to find merchandise, but the best way to deal with situations that may arise during the purchasing process. You can discover vast amounts of information to give you extreme savings when you search for information about automotive savings online.

If you are one of those people who suffer from a bad credit rating, your car salesman may try and charge you an exorbitant amount of interest for a new car loan. Not only that, but they may try to feed you a pack of lies when it comes to information about the bank who has decided to extend you the loan, as to purchasing an extending warranty, VIN etching on the glass, as well as the life insurance credit. You may not even know if charlatans such as these are lying to you about your credit score.

You can find out your own standing in the credit community by checking your credit score online before you even attempt to purchase a new car. By knowing your credit score, you will be armed with the ammunition you need in order to negotiate a fair deal on a new car purchase, and because of the online savings you find online, you will be totally prepared.

Don’t let any unscrupulous dealer trick you into signing anything that you don’t fully understand. Once your signature appears on the dotted line, you are responsible for any terms that are included in the document. It doesn’t matter if it is fair or not, you must know the exact terms you are agreeing to before you sign any official documents. You don’t have to be the victim when you are seeking a new car loan when you have less than perfect credit. With a bit of confidence and plenty of knowledge, you should be ready to meet any car dealer on his home territory and come out the victor.

Automotive sales are a tradition in the Del Mastro family. Now entering into its second generation in the business of new and used RVs, RV parts and accessories and new and used cars in the Peterborough area, the Del Mastros have gained a special insight into their business. Del Mastro Motors was founded by Yvonne Del Mastro and her children in late 1994 but the family already had a deep understanding of automotive sales. Mrs. Up until his passing, Mrs. Del Mastro’s husband Henry (Hank) Del Mastro was the general manager of another successful car dealership. According to family members Hank Del Mastro had always wanted to start his own auto business. His family made the dream a reality and ever since then, has enjoyed steady growth and success. Here are three lessons the family has learned over almost a decade and a half in business.

Be Open to Opportunities

Traditional business advice says that you should plan for the long term instead of banking on explosive success. At the same time, this doesn’t mean you should ignore opportunities for success, either. The key is to research the local market. With a long experience in business throughout Peterborough and the Kawarthas, the Del Mastros saw an untapped demand for Suzuki vehicles. In 1997 Del Mastro Motors became an authorized Suzuki dealer. In a matter of months, the business became the top-selling Suzuki dealership for Ontario outside the GTA.

Expand by Demand

Becoming a Suzuki dealer is just one direction Del Mastro Motors has taken to grow the business. After studying the nature of auto sales and service in the area, the company took the initiative, offering new services that the Peterborough region – and in some cases, the entire country – desperately needed. The Kawarthas is a low density mix of urban and rural communities prone to heavy snowfall in the winter. The Del Mastros realized that this translated into an unmet demand for a convenient, high quality car wash. Other car washes either didn’t provide the same level of service or were only available in the summer. That’s why the family opened a top quality Auto Spa. Similarly, after recognizing a void in RV parts and accessories, the company expanded to supply those through both its Peterborough sales outlet and by delivery across Canada. Del Mastro Motors took each of these steps after examining the market, determining whether the demand fit their business planning to meet it.

Innovate, but Don’t Abandon Your Strengths

In 2009, Del Mastro Motors prepares for another round of expansion. The company redesigned its website at delmastro.ca, adding an online database where visitors can view and compare prices on vehicles. This matches its other online marketing initiatives, but this hasn’t come at the expense of its traditional sales and marketing efforts. Del Mastro Motors still has a commitment to top quality service on the lot, and still sends representatives into the local community to promote the Auto Spa as well as new and used RVs and cars. Del Mastro Motors began by making the right choices for its founding family and the community, and still puts them at the center of its business today.

Osteoporosis is a common disease. In America, it affects approximately one in nine. That works out to 28 million people, with of them being women over middle age. While sone bone loss is inevitable as we age, there are precautions we can take to protect our bones and reduce bone loss and the risk of developing osteoporosis.

Osteoporosis is a disease in which the bones become weak or brittle and are much more prone to breaking. If not prevented or treated, it can lead to easily broken bones, especially that of the wrist, hips and spine.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, 90 percent of American women are calcium deficient on a daily basis. Being deficient in calcium puts you at risk for gum disease, menstrual cramping, depression, insomnia and down the road it can lead to osteoporosis. So it is clearly important for us to be aware of how much Calcium we eat. We need to try and eat more foods rich in calcium and add calcium to the diet as supplements.

Some of the foods which are rich in calcium are dairy products of nearly all kinds, greens such as turnip, bock choy, mustard and broccoli, oysters, blackstrap molasses, almonds and even some mineral waters.

It is important to note that some of the foods we eat have natural inhibitors to Calcium absorption. Foods like spinach, sorrel, rhubarb, and dandelion greens contain oxalic acid which binds to calcium to form calcium oxalate, which is indigestible.

Grains can also interfere with calcium absorption. Phytic acid is found in grains and this is a phophoruslike compound that combines with calcium in the intestines and blocks its absorption. Most people do not need to worry too much about this unless you are eating a very high carbohydrate diet.

There are also nutrients that will enhance the absorption of calcium. Magnesium helps with calcium metabolism and in transporting calcium in to bones and soft tissues. Magnesium is also important for preventing calcium oxalate crystals from forming which is what kidney stones are made from.

There are also vitamins which are important for calcium absorption. Vitamin C is one calcium enhancer. But more importantly, Vitamin D is vital for calcium being transformed into a useable form by increasing calcium absorption in the small intestines and retention by the kidneys.

There are trace elements that enhance calcium absorption. Boron maintains calcium and magnesium levels by aiding the body in it’s synthesize with both estrogen and vitamin D. Silicon is also important. Silicon helps to support calcium in the maintenance and growth of bones and joints.

Estrogen plays an integral role in the body’s use of calcium. Estrogen both increases calcium absorption and decreases its urinary excretion.

Exercise is one of the most important things that can be done to reduce the risk of osteoporosis. Bones grow stronger with physical stress. Weight bearing exercise is the most important form of exercise to protect your bones. A study by the Mayo Clinic found that women who exercise twice a week have denser bones than those who exercise once a week, which in turn have denser bones than those who never exercise at all. Even sedentary postmenopausal women increased bone mass by 5 percent after nine months of an exercise program and a high-calcium diet.

We can conclude that if you want protect your bones, exercise and proper diets and supplements will be important for your health. Choosing the right supplement can be difficult with so many products out there. Many experts believe that postmenopausal women need up to 1,500 mg of calcium daily. When looking for a calcium supplement look for one that is also high in magnesium. You will also want to either find one with Vitamin D already in it, or take a separate D at a minimum of 400 I.U.

Isn’t it now time that you take action and prevent yourself from the risks of osteoporosis? Consult your physician for advice on starting an exercise plan if you are not already doing so. And look for a quality calcium/magnesium supplement to protect your bones so that you can enjoy a healthy, active life in your later years.

It is amazing the number of people that don’t know how to properly clean or polish and wax their cars. Many people use products that were never intended for their car and others use products and equipment that should only be used by properly trained professionals. Some never even wax or clean their cars. Then they wonder why their car is given a very low trade in figure at the dealer, or why their paint is dull and flaking.

For the purpose of this article we interviewed numerous professional automotive detailers and similar professionals. We asked them what products they used and for tips that consumers could use. They pretty much came back with the same advice:

Properly clean the car: This is very important as the use of harsh, non-automotive products can actually harm your cars finish and make it wear quicker. Spray the car first and get it wet. Use the water to spray off dirt and other contaminates that will scratch your car if you immediately start using a sponge and water first. Also do not clean your car in the sun on a hot day. Do make sure you use warm water as it works best to loosen contaminates. After getting your car wet, use an automotive car wash solution and add to water in a bucket. Follow the directions on the bottle. Then wash the car. You will find it easier if you use a long handled wash brush (most auto parts stores have these). Be sure to wash and rinse in sections so the car wash soap doesn’t dry before being washed off. Then using terry cloth towels or chamois, dry the car off. Expert tip: use a squeegee. It is much faster and easier.

Remove stubborn contaminants: There will be dirt, bugs, tar, etc… that will be left after washing. There are many products that are made specifically for removing these items you’re your paint and car. The resounding answer from the experts was Meguiar’s bug and tar cleaner. Remove all the contaminants and follow the directions (some products can remove paint if not used correctly). Expert tip: 3M and other manufacturers make a plastic shield that can be applied over areas of your car’s paint like bumpers and behind the tires to protect from contaminants and rock chips.

Use a cleaner polish: This will remove any left over stubborn contaminates like ground in bug splatter on your painted bumper, acid rain etching, bird drop spots, and minor scratches. Use a circular motion, just like for wax. Follow the directions for that particular cleaner polish (some require a wet or damp applicator pad others don’t). Do the car one section at a time and use a clean section of cloth to buff once dry. Most cleaner polishes will dry to a whitish haze. Be sure to buff off all the haze and residue from the cleaner polish. When done the car finish will be really smooth. Expert tip: for deeper scratches, contaminants, etc… you can use an orbital buffer or polisher to apply the cleaner polish. Be careful and use low rpm’s (under 2000) anything above this and you risk burning the paint.

Apply several coats of polish or wax: There is a big difference between car wax and car polish. Car wax is usually a blend of carnauba and other waxes which will give a deep, wet look and new car shine. It comes in both a liquid and a paste, and it will not last as long as a car polish. Car wax is also less effective in high temperatures and can actually melt on hot areas like the hood. Car polish is a polymer blend usually with no wax. Car polishes can last 1 year between coats and is very durable protection for your paint. The experts recommend a car polish with Teflon in it for maximum protection and durability. The experts love the extra, deeper shine from car wax, but all agreed it was better suited for car shows. Whichever you choose, they are both applied the same way. Apply in a circular motion and let it dry to a haze. Then buff dry with a clean terry cloth or microfiber towel. Expert tip: Don’t use regular towels or diaper cloths as they can trap dirt particles and similar and leave scratch patterns in your finish. A microfiber cloth works best for removing dried car polish or car wax haze. 2 to 3 coats are recommended for maximum protection and shine. A good rule is to reapply the car polish or car wax at least 2 times per year. Expert tip: Apply car wax, not car polish (as car polish will leave streaks and smudges on glass), to your windows. Do one light coat and completely buff it off. The car wax will work better than the leading brand glass treatment for rain (it will also quite your windshield wipers).

An auto detailing service professionally cleans, washes and waxes the interior and exterior of cars, trucks, RVs and even boats. There is no shortage of vehicles to detail, but detailing can be labor-intensive, so make sure you enjoy cars before you start this type of automotive business.

It can be very inexpensive to start an auto detail service, since you don’t necessarily need a store front or shop. You can offer a mobile service and travel to your customers’ locations, or you can rent space at a local car wash or automotive shop. The equipment you’ll need is minimal as well; quality car wash, wax and interior cleaning supplies. Once you have established a larger client base, you can purchase your supplies in bulk at lower wholesale prices, thus increasing your profit per job.

With so many vehicles, you have your choice of customers with whom to work. You may want to focus on a particular niche market to specialize in a certain type of service or particular type of customer. For example, there are new car owners, car dealerships, RV owners or rental companies, classic car owners, even your average joe car driver who wants his car looking good.

So how do you find your customers? If you are on a budget, network with people you know or print business cards and drop them off at local car dealerships or automotive businesses. You could discuss forming a partnership where they get a cut of your profits by advertising your service at their place of business. You could also place an ad in the yellow pages, newspaper or local magazines offering a first-time buyer discount to attract new customers. If you can, use humor in your ads, it’s a great way to attract attention.

Volunteering in your community is another inexpensive way to get your business name out there. Participate in local events and give away coupons for your auto detailing service. Hold a drawing to collect names of potential customers, the winner receiving a free detail service. You can also advertise on TV, radio and the internet for less money than you may think. Submitting a press release is a great example – the media will promote you for free if you send them a great news story about your business.

If you treat your customers well, you will end up not having to spend much of your time marketing because you’ll benefit from repeat customers. Speaking of which, you may want to ask those customers for referrals.

So how do you actually start an auto detailing business?

1. Learn your trade. If you don’t already have detailing skills and knowledge, work a side job. Ask automotive specialists about recommended products. Pick up an inexpensive start-up guide on how to start an auto detailing business or interview an already-successful auto detailing entrepreneur who can give you advice.

2. Find out who your customers are. What are people in your area looking for in a detailing service? What value will you offer them and how much are they willing to pay you for it? Check out competitor’s prices. You don’t necessarily need to be the cheapest – as long as you offer more value (i.e. additional service options, faster service, more convenient location, weekend or evening hours, on-site service, etc).

3. Find out which licenses or permits you need from your local government office. Talk with an accountant, insurance agent and banker (you can get referrals from other local business owners or friends) to get helpful tips on financing, tax issues, insurance and business management that will save you time, money and hassles in the long run.

Get Started!

One thing about running your own business is that it’s a continual learning process. Be prepared to not have all the answers and have fun with it – after all, It’s YOUR business.
