Once you make the mistake of inviting one in, you will never be able to protect yourself from them again. The best way to avoid accidentally inviting one in is to be very selective with your houseguests. If someone looks a little paler than you think is normal or they only want to come over at night, you should be hesitant. Also, if you have young children, make sure you approve anyone they invite over. Even young children can be vampires, so you should be weary and always on the lookout. If you want to keep vampires from even attempting gain entrance into your home, then you may want to hang some cloves of garlic near all of your entrances and windows. This will also be a great to way to identify potential vampires. You should always be suspicious of people who express an aversion to garlic. Scatter a random object throughout your front yard. It can be anything from sunflower seeds to automotive parts. Vampires are known for their obsessive-compulsive tendencies, so if you have enough objects scattered throughout your property, the vamp will be obligated to count every single one. They will be so immersed in counting that they will either forget about you and your home or they will have to head back to their coffin before the sun rises. Hang crucifixes around your home. The best places are at the entrances of every bedroom and bathroom. Also make sure that you and all of your loved ones are wearing a crucifix at all times, just in case.
